Let's go to Sligo!

On our way to Sligo town, we stopped at Carrowmore - the site of an ancient series of megalithic passage tombs and stone circles.
More stone circles - very interesting how little is known about the people from this time.

Dad photographing a dolmen inside a Cairn - the gravel mound surrounding the passage tomb.
So many passage tombs at one site! Some of these haven't even been excavated.

Cool dolmen.
Another cool dolmen.
Maggie made a friend near the last dolmen. Some of the sites were actually in cow fields...you had to watch where you step!

Sligo town! We stopped in town for a pint and a bite to eat.
Seafood chowder and brown bread in Sligo - deliciously fresh!

Furey's pub - previously owned by members of Dervish. But we made friends with the new publican, Paul. We also met the infamous "John the Map".

After dinner, we walked the beach. It was low tide and we watched the sun set at nearly 10:00pm, but it stayed light much later.

Sea glass!
The sun was beautiful!

Hello from the Atlantic!

Sun setting....

So beautiful!

Another attempt at being artsy...

The Beach Bar - our dinner spot for seafood and Guinness. After our jaunt on the beach, we returned to the Beach Bar for dessert...and another pint.

The Beach Bar - inside
This was our drive to the B&B! Very narrow rural roads!
